Insurgent Circuits is a collection for the Martinic Prodigy, featuring 100 carefully crafted presets packed with raw analog attitude, aggressive movement, and rebellious character.
Inspired by electronic music across genres such as techno, electro, synthwave, industrial, IDM, EDM, and modern electronic production, Insurgent Circuits pushes the Prodigy beyond its classic bass-and-lead territory, exploring the full potential of this compact analog powerhouse.
The original Prodigy was introduced by Moog in 1979 as an affordable, compact alternative to the Minimoog. Its straightforward architecture, two VCOs, hard oscillator sync, glide, and unmistakable transistor-ladder filter give it a distinctive sound: fat, direct, aggressive, and full of character. Despite its relatively simple design, the Prodigy became a favorite for basses, leads, and raw synth sounds that cut through a mix with ease.
Martinic’s Prodigy faithfully recreates the character of the original analog circuitry using ACE modeling technology while expanding the instrument with a host of modern features. The original two-oscillator architecture is joined by a sub oscillator and noise generator, while Multidrive adds extra weight, grit, and aggression. Expanded modulation, voice detuning, six-voice unison, and eight-voice polyphony open up territory far beyond the original monophonic instrument.
The built-in sequencer takes things even further, offering 8- and 16-step sequencing with tempo synchronization, trigger modes, and sequencing of pitch, filter, and other sound parameters. A spring reverb inspired by the Moog 905 adds another layer of character, taking these sounds into darker, deeper, and more spacious territory.
Inside Insurgent Circuits, a broad range of sounds awaits: filthy basses, snarling sync leads, punchy sequences, distorted stabs, hypnotic patterns, evolving pads and textures, and some unusual experimental patches. You can expect plenty of movement, grit, and attitude, while retaining the unmistakable analog character that makes the Prodigy so addictive.
The presets make extensive use of Martinic’s enhancements, taking advantage of the expanded modulation capabilities, additional sound sources, voice modes, detuning, and sequencing possibilities. Many patches also respond dynamically to performance controls, providing plenty of room to shape, animate, and transform the sounds while playing.
This isn’t about perfectly preserving the past.
It’s about taking a rebellious piece of analog history and pushing its circuitry somewhere new.
